The
story of St Luke’s, Dunham-on-the-Hill
|
In the early 20th century the original harmonium
was replaced by a pipe organ, which is still in use.

|
In 1921 a George Gilbert Scott cross, which had originally
hung above the choir stalls in the cathedral in Chester, was acquired by the then vicar
and installed above the chancel steps. The cross was the subject of
refurbishment in 1998.
|
|
In the mid 1970’s the decision was taken that the parish
could no longer maintain its own vicar and deacon. Since that time St
Luke’s has been joined with Helsby as a United Benefice.
