The story of St Luke’s, Dunham-on-the-Hill

The village of Dunham on the Hill is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It is situated some 120 feet above sea level, SW of Helsby Hill some 6 miles from Chester, and is surrounded by open countryside but close to heavily industrialised areas. It is on a main bus route, and close to the M56.

The village community retains close links with agriculture and there are several working farms within the Parish. However, a large proportion of the population now travels to work in neighbouring towns and cities.
