In 2010 the
Diocese of Chester launched an initiative called "Growth Action
Planning" or GAP for short.
At St Luke's
we started our GAP project by asking residents of the Parish what they are
looking for in the church, so that we can change to serve the community
better. You can download the results here.
We held a meeting on 30th January to plan our goals
for GAP year 2. Revd. Richard Burton from the Chester Diocese Parish
Development Team led the meeting. Fourteen members of the congregation
attended. The outcome of a lively discussion was a list of ideas from which
the PCC chose the following two goals for 2011.
1. 150th
Anniversary celebrations.
2.
Visiting members of the community and taking
the altar flowers to them.
We now regularly take out flowers from church after the
service to members of the village community. So far they have been very
well received and we believe that it is helping people who are unable to
attend church to feel part of it and to now that we are thinking of them.
Watch this space for new updates on how we are progressing.
